Container lid arrangement

A lid arrangement for a container, the lid arrangement comprising:

• a) a peripheral portion,
• b) a central portion integrally formed with the peripheral portion, the central portion including by an upper surface and a lower surface;
• c) a first scored portion formed between the peripheral portion and the central portion;
• d) a second scored portion formed in the central portion, the second scored portion substantially parallel to the first scored portion;
• e) a strip formed between the first scored portion and the second scored portion;
• and
• f) a tab member connected to the strip, the tab member including a handle positioned above the upper surface of the central portion.

A method of opening a container having a lid, the method comprising:

• a) grasping a handle on the lid, the handle provided above an upper surface of the lid, the handle connected to a strip in the lid, and the strip connected between a central portion of the lid and a peripheral portion of the lid;
• b) pulling the handle away from the central portion such that one side of the strip is torn away from the peripheral portion and an opposite side of the strip is torn away from the central portion;
• and
• c) continuing to pull the handle and the connected strip away from the central portion until the central portion of the lid is completely removed from the peripheral portion of the lid.
