In a steady rest (1) for central clamping of rod-shaped workpieces (20) by means of three holding elements (4 or 7), of which the outer holding elements (7) can be swivelled about an articulated pin (8) mounted in a housing (2) and the middle holding element (4) can be adjusted in a straight line, in which coolant or lubricant can be carried to the workpiece (20) by means of ducts (23) worked into the housing (2) and the holding elements, supply of the coolant or lubricant to the middle holding element (4) without leaks is made possible by having a cavity (21) worked into the housing (2) and/or a housing cover (3). In addition, the ducts (22, 23) provided in the housing (2) and/or the housing cover (3) as well as in the middle holding element (4) are connected to the cavity (21) and these ducts (22, 23) are connected together by means of an elastically deformable element (31) that can be configured as a flexible high-pressure hose (32). This embodiment makes it possible to carry the coolant and lubricant into the middle holding element (4) without having to accept any leakage. The ducts (22, 23) are connected together by means of the elastically deformable element (31) so that a permanently leak-tight connection is provided between the locationally fixed housing (2) and the middle holding element (4).
A steady rest (1) for central clamping of rod-shaped workpieces (20) having a circular circumference on a lathe having three holding elements (4 and 7) arranged in a same plane and provided with rollers, two outer ones of the holding elements (7) being adapted to be swivelled about an articulated pin (8) mounted in a housing (2), and a middle holding element (4) being adapted to be movably adjusted in a straight line in relation to the workpiece (20 or 20′), the middle holding element being adapted to supply coolant and lubricant to the workpiece (20) by means of first and second ducts (22, 23) disposed in the housing (2) and the holding elements, wherein a leak-tight supply of coolant or lubricant for the middle holding element (4) is provided by a cavity (21) disposed in the housing (2), and wherein the ducts (22, 22′, 23) extend through the housing (2) and into the middle holding element (4), and the ducts (22, 22′, 23) are connected together by an elastically deformable element (31, 31′).
A steady rest (1) for central clamping of rod-shaped workpieces (20) having a circular circumference on a lathe having three holding elements (4 and 7) arranged in a same plane and provided with rollers, of which the two outer holding elements (7) are adapted to be swivelled about an articulated pin (8) mounted in a housing (2), and a middle holding element (4) are movably adjustable in a straight line in relation to the workpiece (20), the middle holding element being adapted to supply coolant and lubricant to the workpiece (20) by means of ducts (22, 23) disposed in the housing (2) and the middle holding element, wherein in order to carry the coolant and lubricant into the middle holding element (4) without leaks, a middle piece of the steady rest (1) is attached to the middle holding element (4) and provided with a control cam provided with a rigid connection element (41) in the form of a tube (42), attached to it in a leak-tight connection, with the connection element (41) running in parallel to the axis of the middle holding element (4), passing through the housing (2) and having a first end connected to the duct (23′) disposed in the middle holding element (4) and a second end connected to an elastically deformable element (43).
A steady rest (1) for central clamping of rod-shaped workpieces (20) having a circular circumference on a lathe having three holding elements (4 and 7) arranged in a same plane and provided with rollers, of which two outer holding elements (7) can be swivelled about an articulated pin (8) mounted in a housing (2) and a middle holding element (4) is adapted to be adjusted in a straight line in relation to the workpiece (20), the middle holding element being adapted to supply coolant and lubricant to the workpiece (20), by means of ducts (22, 23) disposed in the housing (2) and the holding elements (4, 7), wherein, in order to carry the coolant or lubricant into the middle holding element (4) without leaks, an actuator (51) is provided that acts on the middle holding element (4) and comprises a piston (53) inserted in a cylinder (52) and provided with a centrally arranged supply duct (55) that is connected to the duct (23) disposed in the middle holding element (4), and a rigid intermediate element (56), comprising a tube (57), is disposed in the end wall (52′) of the cylinder (52) and telescopically engages in the supply duct (55) to provide a leak-tight connection.
