Disubstituted Phenylpiperidines as Modulators of Cortical Catecholaminergic Neurotransmission

• wherein:
• R1 is selected from the group consisting of —CN, —CF3, —CHF2, F and Cl;
• R2 is selected from the group consisting of F and Cl;
• R3 is H
• and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof,
• or a compound of formula (5):
• wherein:
• R1 is selected from the group consisting of —CN, —CF3, —CHF2, F and Cl;
• R2 is selected from the group consisting of F and Cl;
• and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof,
• or a compound of formula (6):
• wherein:
• R1 is selected from the group consisting of —F and Cl;
• R2 is selected from the group consisting of F;
• and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof,
• with the provisos that;
• in Formula (4) above,
• R1 and R2 are not both F when R3 is H;
• R1 and R2 are not both Cl when R3 is H;
• R1 is not —CN when R2 is F and R3 is H;
• R1 is not —CN when R2 is C1 and R3 is H;
• R1 is not Cl when R2 is F and R3 is H;
• in Formula (5) above,
• R1 and R2 are not both F;
• R1 and R2 are not both Cl;
• R1 is not —CF3 when R2 is Cl;
• R1 is not F when R2 is Cl;
• and in Formula (6) above,
• R1 and R2 are not both F;

A method for treating central nervous system disorders, said method comprising:

• administering to a patient a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of formula (4):
• wherein:
• R1 is selected from the group consisting of —CN, —CF3, —CHF2, F and Cl;
• R2 is selected from the group consisting of F and Cl;
• R3 is H
• or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof,
• or a compound of formula (5):
• wherein:
• R1 is selected from the group consisting of —CN, —CF3, —CHF2, F and Cl;
• R2 is selected from the group consisting of F and Cl;
• or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof,
• or a compound of formula (6):
• wherein:
• R1 is selected from the group consisting of —F and Cl;
• R2 is selected from the group consisting of F;
• or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
