Abstract
A signal processing apparatus includes an upconversion processing unit upconverting content data stored in a data storage unit, and an upconversion control unit determining an upconversion-target component and the upconversion processing order of components based on component attribute information such as a component type or a tag value of each component of the content data such as elementary streams.

Upconversion apparatus, for upconverting content data including two or more components capable of reproduction by reproduction apparatus, the upconversion apparatus comprising:
- upconversion control means operable to generate upconversion control information for said content data;
- and
- processing means operable to upconvert one or more components of the content data in accordance with the generated upconversion control information.
A method of upconverting content data including two or more components capable of reproduction by reproduction apparatus, the method comprising:
- generating upconversion control information for said content data;
- and
- upconverting one or more components of the content data in accordance with the generated upconversion control information.
