Abstract
The invention relates to the soybean variety designated 4938051. Provided by the invention are the seeds, plants and derivatives of the soybean variety 4938051. Also provided by the invention are tissue cultures of the soybean variety 4938051 and the plants regenerated therefrom. Still further provided by the invention are methods for producing soybean plants by crossing the soybean variety 4938051 with itself or another soybean variety and plants produced by such methods.
Claims23
A seed of soybean variety 4938051, wherein a sample of seed of said variety has been deposited under ATCC Accession No. ______.
A plant of soybean variety 4938051, wherein a sample of seed of said variety has been deposited under ATCC Accession No. ______.
A tissue culture of regenerable cells of soybean variety 4938051, wherein a sample of seed of said variety has been deposited under ATCC Accession No. ______.
A method of producing soybean seed, comprising crossing a plant of soybean variety 4938051 with itself or a second soybean plant, wherein a sample of seed of said variety has been deposited under ATCC Accession No. ______.
A method of producing a plant of soybean variety 4938051 comprising an added desired trait, the method comprising introducing a transgene conferring the desired trait into a plant of soybean variety 4938051, wherein a sample of seed of said variety has been deposited under ATCC Accession No. ______.
A method of introducing a single locus conversion into soybean variety 4938051 comprising:
- a crossing a first plant of variety 4938051, wherein a sample of seed of said variety has been deposited under ATCC Accession No. ______, with a second plant comprising a desired single locus to produce F1 progeny plants;
- (b) selecting at least a first F1 progeny plant that comprises the single locus to produce at least a first selected F1 progeny plant;
- (c) crossing the selected progeny plant with a first plant of variety 4938051 to produce backcross progeny plants;
- (d) selecting at least a first backcross progeny plant that comprises the single locus and physiological and morphological characteristics of soybean variety 4938051 to produce at least a first selected backcross progeny plant;
- and
- e) repeating steps (c) and (d) a sufficient number of times in succession to produce progeny plants that comprise the single locus and otherwise comprise all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of soybean variety 4938051 when grown in the same environmental conditions.
A plant of soybean variety 4938051, comprising a single locus conversion, wherein a sample of seed of said variety has been deposited under ATCC Accession No. ______.
A method of producing an inbred soybean plant derived from the soybean variety 4938051, the method comprising the steps of:
- (a) preparing a progeny plant derived from soybean variety 4938051. wherein a sample of seed of said variety has been deposited under ATCC Accession No. ______ by crossing a plant of the soybean variety 4938051 with a soybean plant of a second variety;
- (b) crossing the progeny plant with itself or a different plant to produce a seed of a progeny plant of a subsequent generation;
- (c) growing a progeny plant of a subsequent generation from said seed and crossing the progeny plant of said subsequent generation with itself or a different plant;
- and
- (d) repeating steps (b) and (c) for an additional 3-10 generations with sufficient inbreeding to produce an inbred soybean plant derived from the soybean variety 4938051.
