Abstract
Processes for preparing hexafluoroisobutene epoxide (HFIBO) from CH2=C(CF3)2 (HFIB) are provided. The processes can be carried out in substantial absence of oxidation catalysts.
Claims4
A process comprising contacting CH2=C(CF3)2 with oxygen at a temperature of 200-400 oC and at a pressure of 0.01-100 megapascals for a sufficient time to form a reaction mixture comprising 2,2-bis(trifluoromethyl)oxirane, wherein the contacting is carried out in the substantial absence of an oxidation catalyst.
