Abstract
Methods for affecting body composition include the use of amylin or amylin agonist(s). Total body weight may be reduced, maintained or even increased; however, the body fat is reduced or body fat gain is prevented, while lean body mass is maintained or increased.

A method for reducing body fat or body fat gain in a subject while maintaining or increasing lean body mass, the method comprising administering to the subject an amylin agonist, wherein the amylin agonist has at least 80% identity to any of SEQ ID NOs:
- 1 through 28, wherein the subject is in need of treatment, thereby reducing body fat or body fat gain while maintaining or increasing lean body mass.
A method of altering a body composition of a subject, wherein body fat is reduced and lean body mass is maintained or increased, comprising administering an amylin agonist to the subject, wherein the amylin agonist has at least 80% identity to any one of SEQ ID NOs:
- 1 through 28, thereby altering the body composition of the subject.
