Connector and assembling method therefor

A connector, comprising:

• at least one terminal fitting (20) having opposite front and rear ends, a narrow section (24) substantially adjacent the front end and a wide section (26) rearward of the narrow section (24), at least one touching section (41) formed at a widthwise intermediate position on the narrow section (24) for contacting a mating terminal (30), the touching section (41) being plated with a conductive material;
• and
• a housing (10) formed with opposite front and rear ends, a substantially tubular receptacle (11) at the front end and a back wall (12) at a rear part of the receptacle, at least one through hole (TH) formed through the back wall (12), the through hole (TH) including a press-in portion (14;
• 14A) having opposite side surfaces (61) spaced apart sufficiently for holding the wide section (26) of the terminal fitting (20), ridge surfaces (63;
• 63B) extending obliquely from the respective side surfaces (61) and at least one apex (62;
• 62A) joining portions of the ridge surfaces (63;
• 63B) spaced from the respective side surfaces (61), the apex (62;
• 62A) being spaced from and substantially opposed to the touching section (41) as the narrow section (24) of the terminal fitting (20) is inserted through the through hole (TH), whereby the apex (62;
• 62A) substantially prevents abrasion between the plated touching section (41) and the housing (10).
