Oral drug capsule component incorporating a communication device

An improved lower capsule portion of an oral drug delivery capsule comprising:

• an upper capsule portion and a lower capsule portion, said lower capsule portion for containing a medical formulation, said upper capsule portion being made of a material that disperses in gastrointestinal fluid, said lower capsule portion having a mouth, said upper capsule portion being dimensioned to engage with said mouth of said lower capsule portion;
• and
• a communication device positioned on or integrally with said lower capsule portion so that said communication device can communicate that the oral drug delivery capsule has been ingested.

An improved oral drug delivery system, the oral drug delivery system selected from the group consisting of a capsule and a tablet, wherein the improvement comprises a communication device attached to the capsule or tablet so that the communication device communicates that the capsule or tablet has been ingested.
