Abstract
An unacknowledged mode (UM) radio link control (RLC) entity receives RLC protocol data units (PDUs) delivered through one or more logical channels and re-orders the received PDUs by referring to their sequence numbers and by using a receive window and a timer to minimize delivery delay time, to reduce missing PDUs received from each logical channel, and to process the PDUs by avoiding duplicate PDUs.
Claims20
A method of reordering a plurality of protocol data units (PDUs) of a point-to-multipoint service using at least one of a receive window and a reordering timer performed in a radio link control (RLC) layer, the method comprising:
- configuring a reordering function for the plurality of protocol data units (PDUs) when the radio link control (RLC) layer receives one or more protocol data units (PDUs) through multiple inputs from a lower layer;
- determining whether the received protocol data unit (PDU) is within the receive window;
- if the protocol data unit (PDU) is within the receive window,
- placing the received protocol data unit in a buffer at a location indicated by a sequence number or discarding the received protocol data unit (PDU) if that protocol data unit is previously received;
- and
- delivering the received protocol data unit (PDU) to an upper entity if the sequence number is a next expected sequence number;
- and
- if the protocol data unit (PDU) is not within the receive window,
- storing the received protocol data unit (PDU) into a buffer, and advancing the receive window.
