Abstract
Provided is an apparatus and method for transmitting/receiving a service guide in a Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) system. In the method, a service guide request message is transmitted to A MultiCast and BroadCast Service (MCBCS) server. A service guide response message including a service guide is received from the MCBCS server. The service guide is stored in a user terminal. A variety of factors necessitating the maintenance of an awake state of a user terminal can be eliminated. Thus, it is possible to prevent a waste of power, which may be caused by periodic uplink transmission due to the awake state of the user terminal, and a waste of air resources necessary for a signaling process.

A method for receiving a service guide for a user terminal in a broadband wireless access system, the method comprising:
- transmitting a service guide request message to a MultiCast and BroadCast Service (MCBCS) server;
- receiving a service guide response message including a service guide from the MCBCS server;
- and
- storing the service guide.
A method for receiving a service guide for a user terminal in a broadband wireless access system, the method comprising:
- transmitting a service guide request message to a MultiCast and BroadCast Service (MCBCS) server;
- receiving a service guide from a Base Station (BS) through a data burst of a Multicast Connection IDentifier (MCID);
- and
- storing the received service guide.
A method for receiving a service guide for a user terminal in a broadband wireless access system, the method comprising:
- transmitting a service guide request message to a MultiCast and BroadCast Service (MCBCS) server;
- receiving a broadcast message including a service guide from a Base Station (BS);
- and
- storing the received service guide.
A method for receiving a service guide for a user terminal in a broadband wireless access system, the method comprising:
- transmitting a service guide request message to a MultiCast and BroadCast Service (MCBCS) server;
- receiving a service guide from a Base Station (BS) by performing a Dynamic Service Addition (DSA) process;
- and
- storing the received service guide.
A method for transmitting a service guide in a broadband wireless access system, the method comprising:
- a user terminal transmitting a service guide request message to a MultiCast and BroadCast Service (MCBCS) server;
- the MCBCS server transmitting a service guide response message including a service guide to the user terminal;
- and
- the user terminal storing the received service guide.
A method for transmitting a service guide in a broadband wireless access system, the method comprising:
- a user terminal transmitting a service guide request message to a MultiCast and BroadCast Service (MCBCS) server;
- the MCBCS server transmitting information for generation of a service guide to an Access Service Network-Gateway (ASN-GW);
- the ASN-GW generating a service guide using the received information and transmitting the generated service guide to a BS;
- and
- the BS transmitting the service guide to the user terminal through a data burst of a Multicast Connection IDentifier (MCID).
A method for transmitting a service guide in a broadband wireless access system, the method comprising:
- a user terminal transmitting a service guide request message to a MultiCast and BroadCast Service (MCBCS) server;
- the MCBCS server triggering a Base Station (BS) to transmit a service guide to the user terminal;
- and
- the base station transmitting a broadcast message including the service guide to the user terminal.
A method for transmitting a service guide in a broadband wireless access system, the method comprising:
- a user terminal transmitting a service guide request message to a MultiCast and BroadCast Service (MCBCS) server;
- the MCBCS server transmitting a Dynamic Service Addition (DSA) request trigger message for triggering transmission of a service guide to an Access Service Network-Gateway (ASN-GW);
- the ASN-GW transmitting the DSA request trigger message to a BS according to the triggering of the MCBCS server;
- and
- the BS generating a DSA request message including a service guide according to the triggering of the ASN-GW and transmitting the generated DSA request message to the user terminal.
An apparatus for receiving a service guide for a user terminal in a broadband wireless access system, the apparatus comprising:
- a physical (PHY) layer unit for decoding a packet from a Base Station (BS) and coding a packet from a MAC layer;
- a MAC layer unit for decoding a packet from the PHY layer unit and coding a packet from an application layer;
- and
- an application layer unit for transmitting a service guide request message to a MultiCast and BroadCast Service (MCBCS) server and receiving a service guide response message including the service guide from the MCBCS server.
An apparatus for receiving a service guide for a user terminal in a broadband wireless access system, the apparatus comprising:
- a physical (PHY) layer unit for decoding a packet from a Base Station (BS) and coding a packet from a MAC layer;
- a MAC layer unit for detecting a Multicast Connection IDentifier (MCID) of a data burst to decode a packet received through the data burst corresponding to the MCID for transmission of the service guide among the packets received from the PHY layer unit, and coding a packet from an application layer;
- and
- an application layer unit for transmitting a service guide request message to a MultiCast and BroadCast Service (MCBCS) server and receiving the service guide from the BS through a data burst of a predetermined MCID.
An apparatus for receiving a service guide for a user terminal in a broadband wireless access system, the apparatus comprising:
- a physical (PHY) layer unit for decoding a packet from a Base Station (BS) and coding a packet from a MAC layer;
- a MAC layer unit for decoding a broadcast message among a packet received from the PHY layer unit, and coding a packet from an application layer;
- and
- an application layer unit for transmitting a service guide request message to a MultiCast and BroadCast Service (MCBCS) server and receiving a broadcast message including the service guide from the BS.
An apparatus for receiving a service guide for a user terminal in a broadband wireless access system, the apparatus comprising:
- a physical (PHY) layer unit for decoding a packet from a Base Station (BS) and coding a packet from a MAC layer;
- a MAC layer unit for decoding a Dynamic Service Addition (DSA) message among a packet received from the PHY layer unit, and coding a packet from an application layer;
- and
- an application layer unit for transmitting a service guide request message to a MultiCast and BroadCast Service (MCBCS) server and receiving a DSA message including the service guide from the BS.
