Abstract
Systems and methods for converting vector graphic object path profiles into planar map profiles for efficient mean value coordinates evaluation wherein the nodes of resultant region paths include a set of quantities of arbitrary dimension.
Claims20
A method for vector field evaluation of a graphics object, the method comprising:
- locating a first node on a path segment of an original path profile, the original path profile describing at least in part the graphics object;
- locating a second node on the path segment connected at the opposite end of the path segment as the first node;
- replacing the first node with a pair of first nodes;
- replacing the second node with a pair of second nodes;
- and
- replacing the path segment with a pair of path segments such that each of the pair of path segments is connected to one of the pair of first nodes at one end and to one of the pair of second nodes at the opposite end and such that each of the pair of first nodes is connected to one end of one of the pair of path segments and each of the pair of second nodes is connected to the opposite end of the one of the pair of path segment.
The method of claim 7 wherein the field value is a set of quantities of one or more dimensions.
A method for evaluating a vector graphics object including of a path profile with a point of intersection on a path of the path profile, the method comprising converting the path profile into a planar map profile so as to eliminate the point of intersection on the path and to form a plurality of planar map partitions.
A computer-readable medium including a method embodied as computer-executable instructions for evaluating a vector graphics object including of a path profile with a point of intersection on a path of the path profile, the method comprising:
- converting the path profile into a planar map profile so as to eliminate the point of intersection on the path and to form a plurality of planar map partitions, the converting including:
- replacing a first node located at a fractional position along the path with two coincident nodes;
- assigning a value of the first node to the two coincident nodes;
- inserting a second node at the point of intersection in a partition path of one or more of the plurality of planar map partitions;
- calculating a field value for the point of intersection;
- assigning the field value to the second node;
- and
- separately evaluating each of the planar map partitions using a mean value coordinates construction.
