Methods and systems are described for exploring a corpus of content items stored in one or more information repositories within a distributed communications system.

A method for organizing content items within a distributed communications system, the method comprising:
- receiving a content item from a user;
- determining one or more interests to which the content item belongs;
- storing the content item in conjunction with an indication of the one or more interests to which the content item belongs.
