Abstract
This invention relates to potentiation of the glutamate receptor by novel compounds of formula (I): The invention also relates to the use of the derivatives in treating diseases and conditions mediated by potentiation of the glutamate receptor, compositions containing the derivatives and processes for their preparation.
Claims23
A compound of formula (I), or a salt, or solvate thereof
- wherein
- R1 is selected from C1-6alkyl, haloC1-6alkyl, C2-6alkenyl, amino, monoC1-4alkylamino and diC1-4alkylamino;
- R2, R3 and R6, which may be the same or different, are each independently selected from hydrogen, halogen, C1-6alkyl, haloC1-6alkyl and C1-4alkoxy;
- each R4, which may be the same or different, is selected from C1-6alkyl, halogen, haloC1-6alkyl, C1-4alkoxy, haloC1-4alkoxy and cyano;
- p is selected from 0, 1 and 2;
- and
- R5 is phenyl or an aromatic heterocyclyl, either of which is optionally substituted with one or more groups Y;
- each Y group is independently selected from the group consisting of:
- C1-6alkyl, halogen, haloC1-6alkyl, C1-4alkoxy, haloC1-4alkoxy, cyano, —(CH2)qNR5aSO2R5b, —(CH2)qNR5a(C═O)R5d, —(CH2)qNR5a(C═O)N(R5c)2, —(CH2)q(C═O)R5d, —(CH2)qSO2R5b;
- where R5a and each R5c, which may be the same or different, is selected from hydrogen and C1-6alkyl;
- R5b is selected from C1-6alkyl and haloC1-6alkyl;
- R5d is selected from C1-6alkyl, C1-4alkoxy and haloC1-6alkyl;
- or R5a and R5b, R5a and R5c, or R5a and R5d, where appropriate, together with the interconnecting atoms, may form a 5- or 6-membered ring;
- and q is 0, 1, or 2;
- in the case when there are two or more Y groups present, two of them together may form a cyclic group selected from —(CH2)rOR5eO(CH2)s— and —(CH2)tOR5e— where R5e is a group selected from C1-4alkylene or halo C1-4alkylene;
- r and s are each independently 0, 1 or 2;
