A light source assembly including a light source and a base to which the light source is detachably attachable, the base being adapted to orient the light source to a plurality of positions when the light source is mounted thereon, the light source comprising a battery mounted therein, for providing power thereto at least when the light source is disconnected therefrom, the base being adapted for being powered by said battery and/or by an alternative power source, whereby the light source is adapted to be operational both when mounted on the base and when disconnected therefrom.
