Headliner mounted center high mount stop lamp (chmsl)

A vehicle including a headliner mounted center high mount stop lamp (CHMSL), said vehicle comprising:

• a vehicle roof base layer and a headliner, said CHMSL being disposed between said vehicle roof base layer and headliner generally aft of said vehicle, said CHMSL comprising:
• at least one light source disposed between said vehicle roof base layer and headliner generally aft of said vehicle;
• and
• a CHMSL frame disposed between said vehicle roof base layer and headliner adjacent said light source, said CHMSL frame being releasably mounted to said vehicle roof base layer by at least one fastener for mounting said headliner to said vehicle roof base layer.

A method of mounting and servicing a vehicle headliner mounted center high mount stop lamp (CHMSL), said method comprising the steps of:

• attaching said CHMSL to at least one of a vehicle roof base layer and a headliner such that said CHMSL is disposed between said vehicle roof base layer and said headliner generally aft of said vehicle;
• providing at least one light source disposed between said vehicle roof base layer and said headliner generally aft of said vehicle;
• and
• attaching said headliner to said vehicle roof base layer with said CHMSL disposed therebetween by at least one fastener for mounting said headliner to said vehicle roof base layer.
