Modular spill containment system

A panel member for forming a modular fluid containment unit wherein:

• said panel consists of a flexible non-porous sheet of predetermined length and width;
• at least one selected edge of said panel member includes a connector arranged therealong said connector being constructed to releasably inter-connect with a connector of other modular panel members;
• collapsible braces arranged along at least one edge of said panel member, said braces being positionable between operative positions and inoperative positions;
• whereby,
• said panel member may be folded into a generally flat storage and transport configuration and may be joined with selected of said other panel members and configured into a containment unit having vertical side walls for containing fluid.

A method of constructing a modular fluid containment unit of desired size and configuration:

• determining the size and configuration desired for said containment unit;
• selecting a plurality of panel members, the area thereof being equal said determined size and configuration;
• providing each panel member along its edges with one of a securing member and a plurality of braces;
• uniting said securing members forming an enlarged panel member of said selected configuration with said braces arranged about its outer edges, and;
• positioning said braces into an operative position shaping said enlarged panel to have elevated side walls surrounding a floor area creating said modular fluid containment of said desired size and shape.
