Abstract
A case flow bed is for the handling of merchandise includes (a) a loading end and, opposite thereto, an unloading end; (b) a roller bed positioned between said loading end and unloading end for supporting and permitting sliding movement of merchandise from the loading end to the unloading end; and (c) apertures associated with at least said loading end for removably receiving at least one lane divider in any of a plurality of laterally extending positions for delimiting lanes of travel for the sliding movement of the merchandise.
Claims20
A case flow bed comprising:
- a) a loading end and, opposite thereto, an unloading end,
- b) transfer means positioned between said loading end and unloading end for supporting and permitting sliding movement of articles from the loading end to the unloading end;
- c) lane adjustment means associated with at least said loading end for removably receiving at least one lane divider in any of a plurality of laterally extending positions for delimiting lanes of travel for the sliding movement of the articles.
A label holder for removably mounting to a case flow bed, said label holder comprising a body portion having a surface for mounting a label, and a post extending vertically therefrom, said post being configured and dimensioned so as to be non-rotatably received in any of a plurality of corresponding apertures in the case flow bed.
A case flow system comprising at least one inclined case flow bed mounted to a support frame, said case flow bed comprising:
- a) a loading end and, opposite thereto, an unloading end,
- b) transfer means positioned between said loading end and unloading end for supporting and permitting sliding movement of articles from the loading end to the unloading end;
- c) lane adjustment means associated with at least said loading end for removably receiving at least one lane divider in any of a plurality of laterally extending apertures for delimiting lanes of travel for the sliding movement of the articles;
- and
- d) at least one label holder removably receivable into any of the laterally extending apertures for identifying the lanes of travel for selected articles.
A process for conveying a quantity of articles on a case flow roller bed having a length and a width, an article loading end and an article unloading end, wherein said case flow bed includes means for supporting and permitting sliding movement of the articles from the loading end to the unloading end, the process comprising:
- a) subdividing the width of the case flow roller bed into two or more lanes of preselected widths;
- and
- b) selecting articles to be conveyed in corresponding lanes;
- c) placing the selected articles at the loading end of the case flow bed in the corresponding lane and permitting said articles to move to said unloading end within said corresponding lane.
