The invention pertains to a portable navigation system (1) for a motor vehicle with a radio receiver (6), wherein the navigation system (1) comprises a device (3) for generating acoustic navigating instructions, wherein the navigation system (1) features a transmitting device (4) for generating radio signals (5), and wherein the acoustic navigating instructions can be transmitted to the radio receiver (6) by means of the transmitting device (4).
