Abstract
Methods of reducing the number of platelets in mammals and preventing or treating pro-thrombotic conditions and diseases that are characterized by an excess of, or undesired activation of, platelets using inhibitors of anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 family protein members is disclosed.
Claims10
A method of preventing or treating a disease caused or exacerbated by an excess of, or undesired activation of, platelets in a mammal comprising administering thereto a compound which non-selectively or selectively inhibits the activity of an anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 family protein member.
A method of preventing or treating a disease caused or exacerbated by an excess of, or undesired activation of, platelets in a mammal comprising administering thereto a compound which non-selectively or selectively inhibits the activity of an anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 family protein member, wherein the compound has an inhibitory potency of less than about 100 nanomolar.
A method of reducing circulating platelet count in a patient to less than about 600×109/L by administering a therapeutically effective amount of an anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 family protein member inhibitor.
