Abstract
The present invention provides methods and compositions for delivering a therapeutic agent across a membrane that has limited permeability for the therapeutic agent. The method includes delivering the therapeutic agent to the membrane in a composition which includes a sulphated chitinous polymer as a primary carrier.
Claims44
A method for delivering a therapeutic agent across a membrane that has limited permeability for said therapeutic agent, comprising the step of delivering a composition containing said therapeutic agent to said membrane, said composition having a sulphated chitinous polymer as a primary carrier.
A method for treating a subject with a therapeutic agent comprising the step of administering to said subject said therapeutic agent in a composition having a sulphated chitinous polymer as a primary carrier, and wherein said therapeutic agent is delivered across a membrane that has limited permeability for said therapeutic agent.
A pharmaceutical composition comprising a sulphated chitinous polymer selected from the group consisting of N-sulphated-N,O-carboxymethylchitosan and N-sulphated O-carboxymethylchitosan, and mixtures thereof and a therapeutic agent.
