Abstract
A method for optimizing a transmission format of a reference signal is disclosed. A first matrix is provided. A second matrix is computed from the first matrix. A derivative of a function of the second matrix is defined. Iterates of the function are obtained. A function of the second matrix is determined. An optimum value of the first matrix is calculated.

A method for optimizing a transmission format of a reference signal, the method being implemented by a communications system, the method comprising:
- providing a first matrix;
- computing a second matrix from the first matrix;
- defining a derivative of a function of the second matrix;
- obtaining iterates of the function;
- determining a function of the second matrix;
- and
- calculating an optimum value of the first matrix.
A communications system that is configured to implement a method for optimizing a transmission format of a reference signal, the communications system comprising:
- a processor;
- memory in electronic communication with the processor;
- instructions stored in the memory, the instructions being executable to:
- provide a first matrix;
- compute a second matrix from the first matrix;
- define a derivative of a function of the second matrix;
- obtain iterates of the function;
- determine a function of the second matrix;
- and
- calculate an optimum value of the first matrix.
A method for obtaining an original data constellation from a combined reference and data signal, the method being implemented by a communications system, the method comprising:
- receiving the combined reference and data signal;
- applying a buffer to the combined signal;
- multiplying the combined signal by a first matrix;
- multiplying the combined signal by a second matrix;
- multiplying the product from the first matrix with the product from the second matrix;
- and
- recovering the original data constellation.
