Carton with Multi-Ply Handle

A carton, comprising:

• a top panel comprising a first top panel adhered to and overlapping a second top panel;
• a first side panel;
• a bottom panel;
• a second side panel;
• a first end panel;
• and
• a second end panel, wherein
• a multi-ply handle is formed in the top panel, the multi-ply handle comprising at least three overlapping plies of paperboard formed from the first and second top panels.

A carton and a plurality of containers accommodated therein, the carton comprising:

• a plurality of panels defining at least six sides of the carton, wherein
• at least one of the panels comprises a first handle panel and a second handle panel overlapping and adhered to the first handle panel,
• the first handle panel comprises a first handle portion and a reinforcing handle portion,
• the reinforcing handle portion overlaps and is adhered to the first handle portion,
• the second handle panel comprises a second handle portion that overlaps and is adhered to at least one of the first handle portion and the reinforcing handle portion, and
• the overlapped first handle portion, the reinforcing handle portion and the second handle portion define a multi-ply handle of at least three plies.

A carton blank, comprising:

• a first top panel comprising a first handle portion and a reinforcing handle portion located adjacent to the first handle portion, the reinforcing portion being foldably connected to the first handle portion;
• a first side panel foldably connected to the first top panel;
• a bottom panel;
• a second side panel foldably connected to the second top panel;
• and
• a second top panel comprising a second handle portion, wherein the second handle portion is arranged in the second top panel for overlapping the first handle portion when the blank is erected into a carton.
