Abstract
A system and method for printing multiple postage indicia, such as an outbound and/or an associated return postage meter stamp, including a desired postage amount, onto a document or label is described. A processor based system is programmed to interact with a customer to produce the desired postage indicia and to print multiple ones of the indicia substantially contemporaneously. The indicia may include information to allow their use at a later date and/or from a location other than where they are produced.
Claims27
A multi-part label comprising:
- a postage indicia label portion;
- and
- an address label portion, wherein the postage indicia label portion and the address label portion are removably disposed upon a same carrier substrate for automated manipulation by a printer mechanism to print a postage indicia upon the postage indicia label and to print an address upon the address label portion during a same printing operation, and wherein the postage indicia label portion and the address label portion are cut to provide separate portions of the multi-part label.
A method comprising:
- generating postage indicia data;
- obtaining address data;
- printing said postage indicia data as a postage indicia upon a postage indicia label portion of a multi-part label and said address data as an address upon an address label portion of said multi-part label.
A multi-part label comprising:
- a postage indicia label portion, wherein the postage indicia label portion is sized and shaped to accommodate a postage indicia having a machine readable barcode;
- a first address label portion;
- and
- a second address label portion, wherein the postage indicia label portion, the first address label portion, and the second address label portion are removably disposed upon a same carrier substrate for automated manipulation by a printer mechanism to print a postage indicia upon the postage indicia label and to print addresses upon the first and second address label portions during a same printing operation.

A postage printing system comprising:
- a personal computer operable under control of a postage printing application to obtain address information and to cause a postage indicia to be generated for printing;
- a special purpose label-maker operable under control of said personal computer for printing said postage indicia and said address information;
- and
- a multi-part label having a postage indicia label portion for receiving printing of said postage indicia and an address label portion for receiving printing of at least a portion of said address information.
