Method, systems and computer program products for monitoring files

A method for monitoring files, the method comprising:

• detecting a trigger event;
• in response to the detecting, accessing a folder associated with the trigger event, the folder including one or more file path identifiers each specifying a server machine and a directory;
• in response to the detecting, for at least one of the one or more file path identifiers in the folder:
• transmitting a query to the specified server machine requesting current directory data corresponding to the specified directory;
• receiving the current directory data from the server machine in response to the query;
• comparing the current directory data to a previous version of the directory data;
• and
• transmitting an alert message if the previous version of the directory data is different than the current directory data.

A method for monitoring files, the method comprising:

• receiving a query at a server machine from a file monitoring application, the query requesting current directory data corresponding to a specified directory on the server machine, the current directory data including at least one of a file name, a created date, a modified date and a file size for at least one file included in the specified directory;
• accessing the current directory data corresponding to the specified directory on the server machine;
• and
• transmitting the current directory data corresponding to the specified directory on the server machine to the file monitoring application.
