System and method for managing meetings budgets and allocating and reconciling expenditures

A system for managing expenditures for meetings comprising the steps of:

• a database operable to store scheduling information for a plurality of meetings,
• said database further operable to store a plurality of budgets, each of the budgets being associated with and defining budget items for one of the plurality of meetings;
• a processor in communication with the database, said processor operable to receive transaction data describing a plurality of expenditures made using at least one transaction account, wherein the transaction data comprise an amount expended for each of the plurality of expenditures;
• and
• a terminal in communication with the processor, said terminal operable to accept from a user a selection of an expenditure from the plurality of expenditures and a selection of a meeting related to the expenditure from the plurality of meetings,
• said terminal further operable to accept an allocation of at least a portion of the amount of the expenditure to a budget item for the selected meeting.

A computer program product comprising a computer usable medium having control logic stored therein for causing a computer to manage expenditures for meetings, said control logic comprising:

• first computer readable program code means for causing the computer to store scheduling information for a plurality of meetings in a database;
• second computer readable program code means for causing the computer to store a plurality of budgets in the database, each of the budgets being associated with and defining budget items for one of the plurality of meetings;
• third computer readable program code means for causing the computer to receive transaction data describing a plurality of expenditures made using at least one transaction account, wherein the transaction data comprise an amount expended for each of the plurality of expenditures;
• fourth computer readable program code means for causing the computer to accept from a user a selection of an expenditure from the plurality of expenditures;
• fifth computer readable program code means for causing the computer to accept from a user a selection of a meeting related to the selected expenditure from the plurality of meetings;
• and
• sixth computer readable program code means for causing the computer to accept an allocation of at least a portion of the amount of the selected expenditure to a budget item for the selected meeting.
