Abstract
Toner compositions having high molecular weight and improved melt flow are provided.
Claims22
A toner composition comprising a latex having a molecular weight of from about 70 kpse to about 250 kpse and a wax having a melting point of from about 75° C. to about 85° C.
A process of making toner comprising:
- (i) contacting a latex having a molecular weight of from about 70 kpse to about 250 kpse, an aqueous colorant dispersion, and a wax dispersion having a melting point of from about 75° C. to about 85° C.,
- (ii) mixing the above blend with a coagulant;
- (iii) heating the mixture to form an aggregated suspension;
- and
- (iv) adding a base to increase the pH to a value of from about 4 to about 7;
- (v) heating the aggregated suspension to coalesce the aggregated suspension to form toner;
- and
- (vi) recovering said toner.
A xerographic system comprising a charging component, an imaging component, a development component, a transfer component and a fixing component, wherein the development component comprises a toner composition having a latex with a molecular weight of from about 70 kpse to about 250 kpse and a wax with a melting point of from about 75° C. to about 85° C.
A xerographic process comprising:
- depositing a toner composition on a latent electrostatic image, the toner composition having a latex with a molecular weight of from about 70 kpse to about 250 kpse and a wax with a melting point of from about 75° C. to about 85° C.;
- transferring the image to a support surface;
- and
- affixing the image to the support surface.
