Method for changing ownership of a bus between master/slave devices

A system comprising:

• a bidirectional data bus;
• a first device operable issue bus operation requests over the bidirectional data bus when having ownership of the bidirectional data bus;
• and
• a second device operable to receive the bus operation requests over the bidirectional data bus, wherein the second device is operable to issue a respective bus operation response in response to each received bus operation request, wherein the second device is operable to include ownership request information in the respective bus operation response to indicate that the second device is requesting ownership of the bidirectional data bus.

A system comprising:

• a bidirectional data bus;
• and
• a plurality of devices, each of the plurality of devices coupled to the bidirectional data bus, wherein each of the plurality of devices is:
• operable to issue bus operation requests over the bidirectional data bus when having ownership of the bidirectional data bus;
• operable to receive the bus operation requests over the bidirectional data bus;
• operable to issue respective bus operation responses in response to the received bus operation requests;
• operable to include ownership request information in the respective bus operation responses to indicate respective requests for ownership of the bidirectional data bus;
• and
• operable to receive the respective bus operation responses.
