Abstract
Methods and systems enable the electronic scheduling of medical procedures. Schedulers log into a scheduling system to electronically submit medical procedure requests. Requests include entry of patient data together with at least one of: procedure date, procedure place, procedure time, required equipment, requested medical personnel, as part of the first medical procedure request. Once request is accepted by the scheduling system, electronic notifications about the request are automatically sent over a data network to parties associated with the medical procedure (e.g., medical facility, medical personnel, equipment distributors). System enables rescheduling or resolution where scheduling conflicts are indicated.

A method for requesting the scheduling of a surgical case by a case scheduler using an electronically networked medical scheduling system, the method comprising the steps of:
- logging into an electronically networked medical scheduling system;
- entering patient data together with at least one of, case date, case place, case time, required equipment, requested medical personnel, into the electronically networked medical scheduling system as part of a first surgical case request;
- and
- causing said first surgical case request to be accepted into the electronically networked medical scheduling system.
A method for electronically scheduling of a medical procedure, comprising the steps of:
- logging into a networked medical procedure scheduling system to electronically submit a first medical procedure request;
- entering patient data together with at least one of:
- procedure date, procedure place, procedure time, required equipment, requested medical personnel, as part of the first medical procedure request;
- causing the first medical procedure request to be accepted into the networked medical procedure scheduling system wherein electronic notifications about the first medical procedure request are automatically sent over a data network by the networked medical procedure scheduling system to medical procedure scheduling information recipients, said medical case scheduling information recipients representing entities required to process a medical procedure identified in the first medical procedure request and including at least one party associated with at least one of:
- a medical facility, medical personnel, equipment distribution.
A medical procedure scheduling system, comprising:
- a user interface enabling medical procedure schedulers to log into the medical procedure scheduling system;
- a scheduling module including operational with the user interface to enable medical procedure schedulers to electronically submit a medical procedure requests into the medical procedure scheduling system, said medical procedure requests including patient data and least one of procedure date, procedure place, procedure time, required equipment, requested medical personnel;
- and
- a connection module responsive to the user interface and adapted for causing the medical procedure requests to be accepted electronically into the medical procedure scheduling system for causing electronic notification over an electronic data network of parties associated with a medical facility, medical personnel and medical equipment about medical procedure requests.
