Abstract
A pill inserted into a body of a patient acquires in-vivo information on the body of the patient. A receiver disposed on the outside of the body receives the in-vivo information on the body of the patient from the pill through an antenna. When a power supply signal is transmitted from the receiver to the pill through the antenna, a drive control signal for making the pill to execute a predetermined function is superposed on the power supply signal, which makes it possible to control various functions performed by the pill from outside.

A wireless in-vivo information acquiring system comprising:
- a body-insertable device that is inserted into a body of a patient, receives a plurality of power supply signals, and transmits a plurality of level determining signals each of which is relevant to the each of the received power supply signals, the body-insertable device including
- a level determining unit that determines a level of a power supplied by each of the received power supply signals to transmit the plurality of level determining signals each of which indicating the level of the power relevant to each of the power supply signals, wherein the power is used for the body-insertable device to function;
- a function executing unit that executes a predetermined function to acquire in-vivo information on the body of the patient;
- an external device that is disposed outside the body of the patient and receives a plurality of level determining signals from the body-insertable device, the external device including
- a power source that generates the plurality of power supply signals for supplying the power to the body-insertable device;
- a plurality of power supply signal transmitting units each of which is arranged on its predetermined position with respect to the body of the patient and each of which wirelessly transmits one of the power supply signals to the body-insertable device;
- and
- a power detecting unit that selects one of the plurality of power supply signal transmitting units based on the received plurality of level determining signals each of which indicates the level of the supplied power, wherein the selected power supply signal transmitting unit is capable of performing the most effective power supply to the body-insertable device and the selected power supply signal transmitting unit wirelessly transmits the power supply signal to the body-insertable device.
An external device comprising:
- a power source that generates a plurality of power supply signals for supplying a power to the body-insertable device that is inserted into a body of a patient to execute a predetermined function;
- a plurality of power supply signal transmitting units each of which is arranged on its predetermined position with respect to the body of the patient and each of which wirelessly transmits one of the power supply signals to the body-insertable device;
- and
- a power detecting unit that selects one of the plurality of power supply signal transmitting units based on the received plurality of level determining signals each of which indicates the level of the supplied power, wherein the selected power supply signal transmitting unit is capable of performing the most effective power supply to the body-insertable device and the selected power supply signal transmitting unit wirelessly transmits the power supply signal to the body-insertable device.
A vest comprising an external device, the vest is to be worn by a patient, and the external device including
- a power source that generates a plurality of power supply signals for supplying a power to the body-insertable device that is inserted into a body of a patient to execute a predetermined function;
- a plurality of power supply signal transmitting units each of which is arranged on its predetermined position of the vest and each of which wirelessly transmits one of the power supply signals to the body-insertable device;
- and
- a power detecting unit that selects one of the plurality of power supply signal transmitting units based on the received plurality of level determining signals each of which indicates the level of the supplied power, wherein the selected power supply signal transmitting unit Is capable of performing the most effective power supply to the body-insertable device and the selected power supply signal transmitting unit wirelessly transmits the power supply signal to the body-insertable device.
A method for selecting one power supply signal transmitting unit from a plurality of power supply signal transmitting units, the plurality of power supply signal transmitting units wirelessly transmit a plurality of power supply signals respectively to a body-insertable device, the method comprising:
- generating a plurality of power supply signals for supplying a power to the body-insertable device that is inserted into a body of a patient to execute a predetermined function;
- detecting a plurality of level determining signals each of which indicating a level of the power that the body-insertable device has received through respective one of the power supply signals transmitted from respective one of the plurality of power supply signal transmitting units and each of the power supply signal transmitting units is arranged on Its predetermined position with respect to the body of the patient;
- selecting one of the plurality of power supply signal transmitting units based on the received plurality of level determining signals each of which indicates the level of the supplied power, wherein the selected power supply signal transmitting unit is capable of performing the most effective power supply to the body-insertable device and the selected power supply signal transmitting unit;
- and
- wirelessly transmitting the power supply signal to the body-insertable device.
