1-21. (canceled)
An attenuated flavivirus which encodes a polypeptide containing 6-9 consecutive amino acids of residues 32-40 of a dengue virus M protein ectodomain, wherein the amino acid at position 36 of said ectodomain is substituted with any amino acid except A, L or I;
- provided that said attenuated flavivirus is not a Yellow fever strain deposited under a GENPEPT accession number selected from the group consisting of AF052437, AF052438, AF052439, AF052440, AF052442, AF052444, AF052445. AF052446, AF052447, AF094612, X03700, U17066, U17067, U21055, and X15062.
An isolated polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide containing 6-9 consecutive amino acids of residues 32-40 of a dengue virus M protein ectodomain, wherein the amino acid at position 36 of said ectodomain is substituted with any amino acid except A, L, or I.
