Abstract
One or more embodiments of the invention are directed to methods of using pomegranate extracts for treating diabetes related atherosclerotic complications in humans. The methods comprise the step of administering to the patients a composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of an extract from pomegranate.
Claims21
A method of treating a person with diabetes related atherosclerotic complications comprising:
- dispensing a pomegranate extract to a person with diabetes for purposes of reducing atherosclerotic conditions without an adverse effect on diabetic parameters of said person with diabetes.
A process for formulating a pomegranate extract consumable by diabetics without an adverse impact on blood serum levels comprising:
- (a) extracting a juice component and an insoluble by-product component from a pomegranate fruit;
- (b) separating said juice component from said insoluble by-product component;
- and
- (c) providing said juice component to diabetics with adversely modifying blood serum levels.
A method of treating a person with pre-diabetes related atherosclerotic complications comprising:
- dispensing a pomegranate extract to a person with pre-diabetes for purposes of reducing atherosclerotic conditions without an adverse effect on pre-diabetic symptoms of said person.
