Abstract
A Head up display (HUD) calibration assembly is designed for coupling a HUD system with the inner walls of a vehicle, and adjusting the orientation of the HUD system. The HUD calibration assembly includes a mounting tray for coupling with a HUD projector and with a HUD combiner deployment mechanism. The mounting tray includes a plurality of adjustment interface planes, each of which includes a locking screw opening, and a plurality of adjustment assemblies, each coupled with the vehicle in a respective separate anchoring location, locking the mounting tray at the desired position and orientation.
Claims14
HUD calibration assembly, for coupling a HUD system with the inner walls of a vehicle and adjusting the orientation of said HUD system, said HUD calibration assembly comprising:
- a mounting tray, to be coupled with a HUD projector and with a HUD combiner deployment mechanism, said mounting tray including a plurality of adjustment interface planes, each including a locking screw opening;
- and
- a plurality of adjustment assemblies, each coupled with said vehicle in a respective separate anchoring location, each of said adjustment assemblies to be coupled with a respective one of said adjustment interface planes, each of said adjustment assemblies including:
- a hollow screw, having a screw socket for adjusting the distance between the respective one of said adjustment interface planes and said vehicle, thereby adjusting the position and orientation of said mounting tray with respect to said vehicle, said hollow screw further having an outer threading portion, and a substantially spherical head;
- a spherical washer, having an outer surface being topographically compatible with the respective one of said adjustment interface planes, for attaching to said the respective one of said adjustment interface planes, and an inner receiving surface being topographically compatible with the shape of said spherical head, for enclosing said spherical head;
- and
- a locking screw, to be inserted through the respective one of said locking screw openings, through said hollow screw, and threaded into a respective locking screw thread, said locking screw thread being coupled with said vehicle;
- wherein said locking screws are threaded into the respective locking screw thread after all of said hollow screws are positioned in the desired position, thereby locking said mounting tray at said adjusted position and orientation.
Head up display (HUD) combiner deployment mechanism, coupled with a ceiling of a vehicle, the vehicle having a front canopy, the HUD combiner deployment mechanism comprising:
- an optical combiner;
- a four arm assembly, movable between a stowed configuration, an intermediate configuration, a deployed configuration and an emergency configuration, said four arm assembly including:
- a first arm, said first arm being firmly coupled with said ceiling during a transition between said stowed configuration and said intermediate configuration;
- a second arm, coupled with said first arm;
- a third arm, coupled with said second arm and firmly coupled with said optical combiner, said optical combiner further extending from said third arm, said third arm being substantially parallel to said ceiling in said stowed configuration and said intermediate configuration, said third arm being substantially perpendicular to said ceiling in said deployed configuration thereby locating said optical combiner in the field of view (FOV) of a vehicle operator, said optical combiner reflecting information projected thereon and transmitting an outside scene to the eyes of said vehicle operator, said third arm being substantially parallel to said front canopy in said emergency configuration;
- and
- a fourth arm, coupled with said third arm and said first arm, said fourth arm being firmly coupled with said ceiling during a transition between said intermediate configuration and said deployed configuration, and during a transition between said deployed configuration and said emergency configuration.
