Abstract
A circuit module integrating a light driver and an optical scanner is capable of sensing an image of a document and driving a light source. The circuit module comprises a printed circuit board, an optical sensor and a light driver. Both the optical sensor and the light driver are mounted on and electrically connected with the printed circuit board. The optical sensor is capable of sensing the image and the light driver is capable of driving the light source.

A scanning chassis for scanning a document, comprising:
- a light source to illuminate the document and project an image;
- at least one reflector on which the image can be projected, the reflector being adapted to reflect the image;
- a lens assembly on which the reflected image can be projected;
- and
- a circuit module, comprising:
- a circuit board;
- light driver circuitry disposed on and electrically connected with the circuit board and adapted to drive a light source;
- and
- an optical sensor disposed on and electrically connected with the printed circuit board and adapted to sense optical signals produced by the light source.

A method of operating a scanner, comprising:
- disposing a document on a document panel of a scanner;
- driving a light source by a light driver to illuminate the document and produce image signals, the light driver disposed on and electrically connected to a circuit board;
- and
- sensing the image signals by an image sensor, the image sensor being disposed on and electrically connected to the circuit board.

- means for driving a light source to illuminate a document;
- means for sensing optical signals of said light source;
- and
- means for supporting said light driving means and said image sensing means, said supporting means being capable of electrically connecting said light driving means and said image sensing means.
