A mold component comprising a soluble core having a first major surface and a first plurality of substantially continuous fibers adjacent at least a portion of the first major surface.
A method of making a metal matrix composite article comprising:
- providing a mold component comprising a soluble core having a first major surface and a first plurality of substantially continuous fibers adjacent at least a portion of the first major surface;
- infiltrating the first plurality of fibers with a first molten metal;
- and solidifying the first metal.
