Abstract
A ceiling system having a primary grid network which includes a plurality of grid members that are in generally perpendicular relation and form points of intersection. The ceiling system includes one or more joint clips, each of which is attached to the grid network at a point of intersection. Each joint clip partitions the primary grid network into smaller networks, which move independently of one another. At the same time, the appearance of an overall primary grid network is preserved.
Claims16
A ceiling system having a primary grid network, the primary grid network having a plurality of intersecting grid members, the primary grid network being partitioned into more than one grid network, each of the more than one grid network being independent of one another by attaching a separating clip at point of intersection of the intersecting grid members.
A ceiling system comprising:
- a plurality of primary grid members and plurality of secondary grid members, the secondary grid members disposed in generally perpendicular relation to the primary grid members and forming a plurality of intersection points;
- and
- at least one clip attaching the secondary grid members to the primary grid members at an intersection point, the at least one clip having a first fastener portion which is attached to the primary grid member and second and third fastener portions, wherein the second and third fastener portions project outwardly from opposite sides of the first fastener portion in generally perpendicular relation with respect to the first fastener portion.
A ceiling system comprising:
- a primary grid member having a top portion, a vertical web and a horizontal flange;
- a first cross grid member being positioned adjacent a first side of the primary grid member, the first cross grid member having a top portion, a vertical web and a horizontal flange;
- a second cross grid member being positioned adjacent a second side of the primary grid member opposite the first cross grid member, the second cross grid member having a top portion, a vertical web and a horizontal flange;
- and
- a clip formed from a single piece of metal for securing the first and second cross members to the primary grid member, the clip having a first fastener portion extending in the longitudinal direction of the primary grid member and having opposed legs which extend parallel to one another and straddle the primary grid member, the clip further having a second fastener portion extending at a right angle from a first opposing leg of the first fastener and a third fastener portion extending at a right angle from a second opposing leg of the first fastener portion.
