Abstract
A number of RF receivers are connected in a network. The network is used to transmit communications, data, or both to and from the RF receivers and to synchronize the RF receivers to a common time. Digitized RF data is time-stamped and stored in memory. A trigger circuit in one or more RF receivers determines whether a trigger criterion or criteria has been met. When a trigger criterion or criteria has been met, some or all of the RF receivers in the network transmit select digitized RF data to a central processing device. The central processing device processes the select digitized data to detect if a signal is present.
Claims20
An RF receiver for use in a network of RF receivers, comprising:
- an antenna operable to receive an RF signal;
- and
- a trigger circuit operable to detect one or more trigger criteria in the RF signal.
A network, comprising:
- a central processing device;
- and
- a plurality of RF receivers each connected to the central processing device using a network connection, wherein each RF receiver comprises a trigger circuit operable to detect one or more trigger criteria in received RF data and a network controller operable to exchange information over a network connection with the central processing device and the other RF receivers in the network.
A method for detecting an RF signal in a network of RF receivers, wherein the network of RF receivers comprises a plurality of RF receivers connected to a central processing device, comprising:
- receiving RF data by at least one RF receiver in the plurality of RF receivers;
- detecting one or more trigger criteria in the RF data;
- and
- transmitting information over the network subsequent to the detection of the one or more trigger criteria.
