Abstract
A box for shipping and dispensing a welding wire wound into a generally cylindrical mass having a cylindrical core cavity concentric with a vertical axis. The box has four sidewalls with an integral generally triangular flap where at least one of the flaps has an upper generally square crown section with a wire outlet opening. The flaps have a folded down position wherein they overlap each other in a flat plane above the wire mass and an assembled up position defining a four sided pyramid shaped tent above the wire mass, with the crown section assembled in a plane generally parallel to the flat plane and at least 6.0 inches above the flat plane with the wire outlet opening aligned with the axis.

A box for shipping and dispensing a welding wire wound into a generally cylindrical mass having a cylindrical core cavity concentric with a vertical axis, said box having a number of flat sidewalls defining a wire receiving compartment with a lateral, polygonal cross-sectional shape and at least two flaps, each flap connected to the top of a sidewall and having an elongated flat body with at least one of said flaps having an integrally formed crown section containing a wire outlet opening, wherein the two flaps on two parallel sidewalls have a folded down position extending across said polygonal shape and overlapped above said wire and an assembled position with said flaps connected into a tent configuration fixing said crown section in a horizontal plane above said wire mass with said wire opening aligned with said axis.
A grommet to hold together two or more overlapping, horizontal crown sections of upstanding flaps on a box, said flaps defining the hat of a welding wire dispensing container, said overlapped sections have a given assembled thickness and said grommet including a cylindrical body, a fixed shoulder and a camming shoulder spaced a distance from said fixed shoulder, said distance being only slightly greater than said thickness, said grommet having a wire dispensing bore through said grommet extending from an opening below said fixed shoulder to an opening above said camming shoulder.
A box for shipping and dispensing a welding wire wound into a generally cylindrical body and having a cylindrical center core cavity concentric with a vertical axis, said box having a number of flat sidewalls defining a wire receiving compartment with a lateral, polygonal cross-sectional shape and at least two flaps, one of said flaps connected to the top of each of two parallel sidewalls, each of said flaps having an elongated body with at least one of said flaps having an outwardly extending crown section with an outlet wire opening wherein said flaps have a folded down position extending across said shape and over said wire and an assembled up position with said flaps connected together to form a tent with a top formed by said crown section with said outlet opening aligned with said axis and a given height above said wire.
A box for shipping and dispensing a welding wire wound into a generally cylindrical mass having a cylindrical core cavity concentric with a vertical axis, said box having four sidewalls with an integral generally triangular flap with at least one of said flaps having an upper generally square crown section with a wire outlet opening, said flaps having a folded down position wherein they overlap each other in a flat plane above said wire mass and an assembled up position defining a four sided pyramid shaped tent above said wire mass with said crown section assembled in a plane generally parallel to said flat plane and at least 6.0 inches above said flat plane with said wire outlet opening aligned with said axis.
A box for shipping and dispensing a welding wire wound into a generally cylindrical mass having a cylindrical core cavity concentric with a vertical axis, said box having a number of flat sidewalls defining a wire receiving compartment with a lateral, polygonal cross-sectional shape and at least two flaps, each flap connected to the top of a sidewall and having an elongated flat body with at least one of said flaps having an integrally formed section containing a wire outlet opening, wherein the two flaps on two parallel sidewalls have a folded down position extending across said polygonal shape and overlapped above said wire and an upstanding assembled position with said flaps connected into a tent configuration fixing said section in a horizontal plane above said wire mass with said wire opening aligned with said axis.
A box for shipping and dispensing a welding wire wound into a generally cylindrical mass having a cylindrical core cavity concentric with a vertical axis, said box having a number of flat sidewalls defining a wire receiving compartment with a lateral, polygonal cross-sectional shape, a flap connected to the top of a sidewall, said one elongated flap having flat first and second body sections with an intermediate integrally formed crown section containing a wire outlet opening, said first body section being attached to one of said sidewalls and the second body section having a distal edge wherein said flap has a folded down position extending across said polygonal shape and above said wire and an assembled upstanding position where said distal edge is connected to the top edge of a sidewall parallel to said one sidewall to form a tent configuration fixing said crown section in a horizontal plane above said wire mass with said wire opening aligned with said axis.
A box for shipping and dispensing a welding wire wound into a generally cylindrical mass having a cylindrical core cavity concentric with a vertical axis, said box having a number of flat sidewalls defining a wire receiving compartment with a lateral, polygonal cross-sectional shape and at least one integral flap connected to the top of a sidewall and containing a wire outlet opening, wherein said flap has a folded down position and an assembled upstanding position wherein said flap defines a tent configuration fixing a section of said flap in a horizontal plane above said wire mass with said wire opening aligned with said axis.
