Provided are animal containment systems and components, including single-use animal containment cages and modular rack units. Also provided are methods for assembling and using components of the animal containment systems.

A rodent containment cage bottle comprising one or more walls, a bottom and an aperture, wherein:
- the bottle is constructed from a polymer;
- the one or more walls are of a thickness of about 0.01 inches to about 0.08 inches;
- and
- the bottle retains fluid at the aperture when inverted.
