Abstract
A method for manufacturing double barrel shotgun barrels, including the steps of providing an elongated metal stock material having a first end and a second end, forming two index holes in both the first end and the second end of the material, forming a first and second bore hole through the material, and then profiling the material into a desired gun barrel profile. 16. Double barrel shotgun barrels formed from a single piece of elongated solid metal stock material according to the process of the invention are also taught.
Claims16
A method for manufacturing double barrel gun barrels, the method comprising:
- providing an elongated solid metal stock material having a length dimension and a first end and a second end, said solid metal stock material being of sufficient length to produce a double barrel gun barrel;
- forming a first pair of opposed index markers at both said first end and said second end of the solid metal stock material;
- forming a second pair of opposed index markers at both the first end and the second end of the solid metal stock material, the second pair of index markers being spaced from the first pair of index markers at both the first end and the second end of the solid metal stock material, each said first and second index markers at said first end and said second end of the solid metal stock material providing indices for subsequently positioning said metal stock material for further processing;
- forming a first projectile hole by boring through the solid metal stock material, the location of said first projectile hole being defined along its said length dimension by said first and second index markers at said first and second ends;
- and then
- forming a second projectile hole by boring through the solid metal stock material, the location of said second projectile hole also being defined along its said length dimension by said first and second index markers at said and second ends, and spaced apart from said first projectile hole.
