Abstract
A patient bed includes a patient support, with a headboard, a footboard, and a plurality of side rails. One or more surfaces of the side rails or of the headboard or of the footboard includes a gap and a sealing cover for sealing the gap to facilitate cleaning and disinfection of the patient bed. For example, the cover may comprise a membrane that is applied to the surface, for example, by an adhesive. The adhesive may be releasable so that the membrane may be removed for replacement or to provide access to the gap for example, where the gap is formed between a control interface that is located in the surface.

A patient bed comprising:
- a patient support;
- said patient support including a headboard, a footboard, and a plurality of side rails, one or more surfaces of said side rails or of said headboard or of said footboard including a gap and a sealing cover for sealing said gap to facilitate cleaning and disinfection of said patient bed.
A patient bed comprising:
- a base;
- a patient support, said patient support including a foot-end section and a pivotal head-end section, and said patient support further including a side rail, said side rail having a body;
- and
- a visual indicator located on said body of said side rail adjacent the perimeter of said body, said visual indicator providing a visual indication of the angular orientation of the head-end section of the deck frame when said head-end section is pivoted to an inclined position.
A patient bed comprising:
- a base, said base including a frame and a plurality of bearing members for moving said base across a surface;
- and
- a support frame system supported by said base, said support frame system including an intermediate frame and a deck frame, said deck frame including a pivotal head-end section, a seat section, and a pivotal foot-end section, said intermediate frame having a longitudinal extent shorter than said deck frame wherein said intermediate frame longitudinal extent terminates adjacent said foot-end section wherein said foot-end section is pivotal relative to said seat section without inducing significant movement of said seat section.
A patient bed comprising:
- a patient support;
- a base;
- an elevation mechanism for raising or lowering said patient support relative to said base;
- and
- a cover at least partially covering said elevation mechanism and a portion of said base to provide protection to said elevation mechanism.
A patient bed comprising:
- a base;
- and
- a patient support having a removable headboard, said headboard being dimensioned for being suitable as a CPR board.
A patient bed comprising:
- a patient support;
- and
- at least one surface of said patient having a bactericide agent.
