Abstract
Various embodiments of a computer-implemented method, system and computer program product monitor the performance of a program component executing in a virtual machine. Breakpoints associated with position indicators within the program component are set. In response to reaching one of the breakpoints, an amount of time consumed between the breakpoint and a previous breakpoint is determined. The amount of time associated with the position indicators is accumulated. The amount of time is associated with a position indicator that is associated with the previous breakpoint.
Claims20
A computer-implemented method of monitoring the performance of a program component executing in a virtual machine, comprising:
- setting breakpoints associated with position indicators within said program component;
- in response to reaching one of said breakpoints, determining an amount of time consumed between said one of said breakpoints and a previous breakpoint;
- and
- accumulating said amount of time associated with said position indicators, wherein said amount of time is associated with a position indicator that is associated with said previous breakpoint.
A computer program product comprising a computer usable medium having a computer readable program, wherein the computer readable program when executed on a computer causes the computer to:
- set breakpoints associated with position indicators within a program component of an application program;
- in response to reaching one of said breakpoints while said application program executes in a virtual machine, determine an amount of time consumed between said one of said breakpoints and a previous breakpoint;
- and
- accumulate said amount of time associated with said position indicators, wherein said amount of time is associated with a position indicator that is associated with said previous breakpoint.
A computer system to monitor the performance of a program component of an application program capable of being executed in a virtual machine, comprising:
- breakpoints associated with position indicators in said program component;
- and
- an accumulated amount of time associated with at least one of said position indicators in said program component.
