Abstract
A system in accordance with the present invention prevents tampering of a device. The system includes an encrypted digital signature and a decryption attempt. The encrypted digital signature represents a configuration of the device and is retained in a non-volatile memory of the device. The decryption attempt is received from a source seeking access to the device. The system determines whether the digital signature matches the decryption attempt.
Claims20
A system for preventing tampering of a device, said system comprising:
- an encrypted digital signature representing a configuration of the device, said digital signature being placed in a non-volatile memory of the device;
- and
- a decryption attempt received from a source seeking access to the device,
- said system determining whether said digital signature matches said decryption attempt.
A method for preventing tampering of a device, said method comprising the following steps:
- creating an encrypted digital signature representing a hardware definition of the device and a state of the device;
- storing the digital signature in a non-volatile memory of the device;
- receiving a decryption attempt from a source seeking access to the device;
- and
- determining whether the digital signature matches the decryption attempt.
A computer program product for preventing tampering of a device, said product comprising:
- a first instruction for creating an encrypted digital signature representing a hardware definition of the device and a state of the device;
- a second instruction for storing the digital signature in a non-volatile memory of the device;
- a third instruction for receiving a decryption attempt from a source seeking access to the device;
- and
- a fourth instruction for determining whether the digital signature matches the decryption attempt.
