Abstract
A computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer usable program code for processing data packets. A set of data fragments are received at the data processing system to form a set of received data fragments. Assembly of the set of data fragments is initiated into a data packet, and a determination as to whether the data packet is an incomplete data packet. Responsive to a determination that the data packet is an incomplete data packet, the incomplete data packet is filled with at least one character to form a final data packet. The final data packet is forwarded to the target.
Claims20
A computer implemented method for processing data packets, the computer implemented method comprising:
- receiving a set of data fragments at a data processing system to form a set of received data fragments;
- initiating assembly of the set of data fragments into a data packet;
- determining whether the data packet is an incomplete data packet;
- responsive to a determination that the data packet is an incomplete data packet, filling the incomplete data packet with at least one character to replace any missing data to form a completed data packet, wherein the step of filling the incomplete data packet is performed by the data processing system;
- and
- forwarding the completed data packet to a target, wherein the completed data packet includes the at least one character.
A computer program product comprising:
- a computer usable medium having computer usable program code for processing incomplete data packets, said computer program product including:
- computer usable program code for receiving a set of data fragments at a data processing system to form a set of received data fragments;
- computer usable program code for initiating assembly of the set of data fragments into a data packet;
- computer usable program code for determining whether the data packet is an incomplete data packet;
- computer usable program code for, responsive to a determination that the data packet is an incomplete data packet, filling the incomplete data packet with at least one character to replace any missing data to form a completed data packet, wherein filling the incomplete data packet is performed at the data processing system;
- and
- computer usable program code for forwarding the completed data packet to a target, wherein the completed data packet includes the at least one character.
A data processing system comprising:
- a processor;
- a bus connected to the processor;
- a computer usable medium connected to the bus, wherein the computer usable medium contains a set of instructions, wherein the processor is adapted to carry out the set of instructions to:
- receive a set of data fragments at a data processing system to form a set of received data fragments;
- initiate assembly of the set of data fragments into a data packet;
- determine whether the data packet is an incomplete data packet;
- responsive to a determination that the data packet is an incomplete data packet, fill the incomplete data packet with at least one character to replace any missing data to form a completed data packet, wherein filling the incomplete data packet is performed at the data processing system;
- and
- forward the completed data packet to a target, wherein the completed data packet includes the at least one character.
