Distributed Web Publishing

A computer readable medium having a program for publishing content on a network, the program having instructions for performing:

• receiving a request for creation of a uniform resource locator from a first user;
• assigning a base uniform resource locator to the first user that requested the uniform resource locator, wherein the base uniform resource locator comprises a portion of the uniform resource locator;
• receiving a request to retrieve content identified by the uniform resource locator;
• parsing the uniform resource locator to determine identification of the first user;
• and
• forwarding the request to retrieve content to a local machine of the first user so for enabling the local machine of the first user to establish a connection with a remote machine requesting the content.

A system for publishing content on a network, comprising:

• a network server for receiving a request for creation of a uniform resource locator from a first user, the module configured to:
• assign a base uniform resource locator to the first user that requested the uniform resource locator, wherein the base uniform resource locator comprises a portion of the uniform resource locator;
• receive a request to retrieve content identified by the uniform resource locator;
• parse the uniform resource locator to determine identification of the first user;
• and
• forward the request to retrieve content to a local machine of the first user for enabling the first user to establish a connection with a remote machine requesting the content.
