Abstract
A reduced pressure treatment apparatus includes a drape for positioning over the wound site to create and maintain a substantially air-tight cavity between the wound site and the drape. A multi-lumen suction tube is provided to be attached to a reduced pressure source. The multi-lumen suction tube includes a center lumen and at least one outer lumen and is configured to deliver reduced pressure beneath the drape to the substantially air-tight cavity. The multi-lumen suction tube is adapted to allow fluid to be drawn from the wound site through the center lumen and pressure to be monitored at the wound site through the at least one outer lumen.
Claims38
A reduced pressure treatment apparatus for administering reduced pressure to a wound site, the apparatus comprising:
- a drape for positioning over the wound site to create and maintain a substantially air-tight cavity between the wound site and the drape;
- a multi-lumen suction tube configured to be attached to a reduced pressure source, the multi-lumen suction tube having a center lumen and at least one outer lumen and being configured to deliver reduced pressure beneath the drape to the substantially air-tight cavity;
- and
- wherein the multi-lumen suction tube is adapted to allow fluid to be drawn from the wound site through the center lumen and pressure to be monitored at the wound site through the at least one outer lumen.
A reduced pressure treatment apparatus comprising:
- a manifold for distributing reduced pressure to a wound site;
- a drape for positioning over the manifold;
- and
- a multi-lumen suction tube fluidly connected to the manifold, the multi-lumen suction tube having a center lumen to allow fluid to be drawn from the wound site and at least one outer lumen to allow pressure to be monitored at the wound site.
A reduced pressure treatment apparatus for administering reduced pressure to a wound site, the apparatus comprising:
- a manifold for distributing reduced pressure to the wound site;
- a multi-lumen suction tube fluidly connected to the manifold to deliver reduced pressure to the manifold, the multi-lumen suction tube having a center lumen and at least one outer lumen;
- and
- wherein the multi-lumen suction tube is adapted to allow fluid to be drawn from the wound site through the center lumen and pressure to be monitored at the wound site through the at least one outer lumen.
A method of administering reduced pressure treatment to a wound site comprising:
- positioning a manifold adjacent to the wound site and a multi-lumen suction tube in fluid communication with the manifold, the multi-lumen suction tube having a central lumen and at least one outer lumen;
- distributing a reduced pressure to the wound site through the manifold;
- collecting fluid from the wound site through the central lumen of the multi-lumen suction tube;
- and
- sensing a pressure at the wound site through the at least one outer lumen.
A reduced pressure treatment apparatus for administering reduced pressure to a wound site, the apparatus comprising:
- a manifold for distributing reduced pressure to the wound site;
- a drainage conduit having a first end fluidly connected to the manifold;
- a canister fluidly connected to a second end of the drainage conduit for collecting fluid drawn from the wound site through the manifold and the drainage conduit, the canister having an outlet port configured to be fluidly connected to a reduced pressure source;
- a filter operably associated with the canister to prevent fluid collected in the canister from exiting the outlet port;
- and
- a pressure detector operably associated with the outlet port to detect pressure changes indicative of the canister being filled with fluid.
A reduced pressure treatment apparatus for administering reduced pressure to a wound site, the apparatus comprising:
- a polyvinyl alcohol pad having an intercommunicating cellular structure permeable to liquids;
- a drainage conduit having a first end fluidly connected to the polyvinyl alcohol pad;
- a canister fluidly connected to a second end of the drainage conduit for collecting fluid drawn from the wound site through the polyvinyl alcohol pad and the drainage conduit, the canister having an outlet port configured to be fluidly connected to a reduced pressure source to deliver reduced pressure to the wound site through the drainage conduit and the polyvinyl alcohol pad.
