Crystalline forms of duloxetine free base

A process of preparing a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of duloxetine which comprises dissolving or suspending crystalline duloxetine free base in a water miscible solvent, adding a pharmaceutically acceptable acid thereto required to form the pharmaceutically acceptable salt, and isolating the required pharmaceutically acceptable salt of duloxetine in crystalline form.

A pharmaceutically acceptable formulation for administering to a patient, including humans, suffering from, or susceptible to, a disease state prevented, ameliorated or eliminated by the administration of a serotonin and/or norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, which formulation comprises a therapeutically effective amount of crystalline duloxetine free base, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of duloxetine, together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, diluent or excipient therefor.
