Topically applicable agents are described, for the treatment of nail diseases and for nail care, which contain where needed, besides one or more active substance and physiologically compatible active ingredient and solution mediator, one or more compounds of the formula I R—O—R1 (I) where R represents a straight or branched alkyl residue with 5-8 carbon atoms and R1 represents a formyl group or an acetyl group

- a) one or more therapeutic or nurturing active substances,
- b) one or more compounds of formula I
- R—O—R1 (I)
- where
- R represents a straight or branched alkyl residue with 5-8 carbon atoms and
- R1 represents a formyl group or an acetyl group, and
- c) if necessary a physiologically compatible adjuvant.
