Abstract
For flash photography, a rise of a flash emission control pulse precedes emission timing by a predetermined period. A start of flash emission of a flash lamp precedes a start of exposure of an image sensor. Since the start of the emission is earlier than the start of the exposure, a period of unstable flash emission can be excluded from an exposure time T of the image sensor. The exclusion prevents a captured image from being affected by the period of unstable flash emission. Accordingly, it becomes possible to ensure high color reproducibility for photography with auxiliary light.
Claims23
A digital camera comprising:
- an image capture element which captures an image of an object;
- a light emission element which emits light;
- a light amount setting unit which sets an amount of light to be emitted by the light emission element;
- and
- an emission timing controller which controls a light emission timing of the light emission element with respect to an exposure timing of the image capture element in accordance with the amount of light set by the light amount setting unit.
A light emission control method comprising:
- setting an amount of light to be emitted by a light emission element;
- determining a light emission timing of the light emission element with respect to an exposure timing of an image capture element in accordance with the set amount of light;
- and
- emitting light based on the determined light emission timing.
A computer program product for use with a digital camera having an image capture element and a light emission element, the computer program product being stored in a computer usable medium including computer readable program means, the computer program product comprising:
- first computer readable program means for setting an amount of light to be emitted by the light emission element;
- second computer readable program means for determining a light emission timing of the light emission element with respect to an exposure timing of the image capture element in accordance with the set amount of light;
- and
- third computer readable program means for emitting light based on the determined light emission timing.
