Abstract
A system and method for providing information to a mobile unit user in response to requests made by the user. An exemplary system may allow a cellular phone user to retrieve text and/or image files, for example, by accessing an interactive voice response (IVR) system, which generates and sends SMS, MMS and/or WAP messages to the cellular phone based on information identification codes and/or other input entered into the IVR by the user. In some embodiments of the invention, no prior setup is required by the mobile unit user in order to receive the requested information.
Claims20
A method of providing user-requested information, the method comprising:
- providing an interactive voice response system accessible by a mobile unit;
- receiving an information identification code from the mobile unit in response to a prompt from the interactive voice response system;
- retrieving from a database information corresponding to the information identification code;
- creating a message adapted to be displayed on the mobile unit, wherein the message comprises the information;
- and
- sending the message to the mobile unit.
A system for providing user-requested information, the system comprising:
- an interactive voice response system, adapted to receive an information identification code from a mobile unit;
- a database unit adapted to store information associated with the information identification code;
- and
- a system control unit, the system control unit being adapted to
- receive the information identification code from the interactive voice response system,
- retrieve the information from the database based on the information identification code received,
- create a message for display on the mobile unit, the message including the information, and
- send the message to the mobile unit.
